Educating Your Downline
By Joe Balestrino

Now that you've found the right MLM for you, how do you get your downline started making money? Well, one effective way is to put together your own starter packet. Your probably saying "My company already sends my downline their own packet when they join" and that's fine. The only problem is most packets just give your downline quick ideas and references on getting started. They leave the bulk of the work to the up-line, which is you!

Here are a few tips to help you put together an effective starter packet.

First, write down all the questions you asked your up-line when you signed up. Questions like, Where do I advertise? or How do I approach people to purchase these products/services? Questions like these should be explained in detail.

Second, give explanations on which materials they will need to get started. Your downline will want to know which sales materials they will need now and which ones can be used later. Also advise them on your company's business stationary, if any. Or recommend someone since they will need to know where they can purchase them.

Third, breakdown company polices into a brief explanation. Don't let your downline be confused on how to market the products/service or how to sign up new reps. Confusion will just delay or discourage them.

Fourth, explain your follow-up system. Provide any follow-up, sales or introductory letters they may need. Explain how and when each one is used. Leave a space so they can customize it to fit their information on it.

Finally, provide any sources that will be helpful, such as advertising, printing and any other services that they will need. Don't be afraid to add your own tips on advertising or your own experiences. Place as much information in your packet as you want. The more you put into your packet the less you will have to explain later. Place all your information in a nice book format and staple or place it in a folder. Keep plenty of them on hand. Whenever someone signs-up, just mail them the packet. Now you will have more time to mange your business instead of repeating the same information to your downline. Good luck.
